throwing sweet potatoes in my smoothies
This is one of my favorite ways to make a smoothie or smoothie bowl more filling - throwing a boiled sweet potato in the mix! Believe it or not, but it makes the smoothie really thick and creamy, which is perfect for a smoothie bowl. I am not the type of person who is full after a smoothie bowl so I always need a little extra somethin.
Sweet potatoes are high in antioxidants, great source of our B & C vitamins and full of fiber. They really are a nutrient dense root vegetable that can be used 1000 different ways. I also like to toss spinach in my smoothies no matter what! It’s such an easy way to sneak in more greens.
Sweet Potato Smoothie Bowl
Makes: 1 smoothie bowl | Total Time: 15 minutes | gluten free & dairy free
1/2 boiled sweet potato, I like to let it cool in the fridge
1/2 c nut milk or water
1 handful frozen dark cherries
1 tbsp raw cacao
1 tbsp flaxseed meal
2 scoops collagen, Vital Proteins - optional
1 scoop Four Sigmatic protein powder -optional
Lots of cinnamon & a little honey
Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender. You might have to use a spoon to stir throughout. Pour into a bowl and start topping! I like to use shredded coconut flakes, almond butter, berries, nuts, bee pollen, chia and hemp seeds as toppings!!
